In 2007, Bobby and Stacy Amos (of Forsyth County's Bobby Amos Water Works) supported a unit through a Forsyth Central classmate of Bobby’s, LTC Kevin Fowler. Fowler is the commander of 3-17 Air Cavalry Squadron and 460 great Americans who say they are proud to serve their country. Thanks to the support of the community, the Mission Support AMOS was able to send the unit care packages until they returned last year to their home base in Savannah, Ga.
Mission Support AMOS would like to start another drive. Bobby and Stacy have had the privilege of speaking to First Sergeant James Grady (a.k.a. Jay) to learn about his unit — 95 percent of which are from Georgia. A smaller unit consisting of 32 males and 24 females ranging in ages from 19 to 27 with a few in their 30s, 40s and even 50s, they are a medical company and support members of all branches of the service, civilians as well as some locals.
Thanks to Forsyth County Fire Chief Danny Bowman for allowing Mission Support AMOS to use the fire stations to place donation boxes for collecting items.
